How Provident Mexico uncovered its hidden talent

Provident Mexico deployed 365Talents — branded internally as Talent Connect — to make its entire workforce visible, field staff included. Rolled out to 2,500 employees in four waves over just 12 weeks, the platform reached an 85% activation rate, 75% profile completion, and an average of 15 declared skills per person. Skills that once lived in managers’ heads became shared data: C-level talent reviews now run on it, and a quarter of active employees have declared themselves open to internal moves.

Visible to everyone: how Provident Mexico built a shared language of skills

Context

Provident Mexico is the nation’s leading provider of home-credit personal loans. Tracing its legacy back to the UK in 1880 and operating in Mexico since 2003, the company maintains a vast footprint spanning 59 branches across 29 states. Backed by 2,500 employees and a network of over 9,500 independent commission agents (Estrellas), Provident advances financial inclusion by delivering fast, responsible, and trust-based credit to underserved populations — primarily lower-income women without traditional banking access.

Challenges

We’re not lacking talent at Provident. We’re lacking visibility into the talent we already have.

With teams split between head office and the field, Provident Mexico lacked visibility into its people — skills knowledge lived with managers alone. This blind spot held back the network’s expansion, since mobile profiles couldn’t be identified to staff new branches.

To fix this, Karina Rodriguez, Head of CoE Learning, Culture & Talent Development, describes the ambition to centralize HR data on a single platform, unify the skills framework, and build individualized development paths to retain talent.

Results

Deployed across four phased waves in just 12 weeks — starting deliberately with the field staff, the group with the lowest digital visibility and the most to gain — the rollout delivered :

  • an 85% activation rate,
  • a 75% profile completion rate,
  • and an average of 15 skills declared per employee.

More than 70% of employees adopted the platform within weeks of launch. C-level Talent ID Reviews now run off 365Talents data — who is ready to move, who is willing, who holds the critical skills — and manager conversations have shifted from training to skills: what the next step requires, not what course to take.
